Since 1999, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province has been developing its unique women's policy plan to implement the Basic Plan for Women's Policy in Korea and to promote women's policies specific to Jeju Island. To formulate the 5th Basic Plan for Women's Policy of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (2015-2017), this research establishes a vision of "Building a Gender-Equal Jeju Society Together." It also proposes three goals: "Gender-Equal Social Participation," "Enhancing Care Publicity," and "Fostering Safe Communities." It further introduces 6 areas, 15 policy tasks, 50 sub-tasks, and 151 detailed tasks (including 51 new projects) to establish the foundation of gender equality policies and promote their implementation.
