Research
In order to identify the current status of living among the adolescent parents in Jeju, this research conducted an in-depth interview with 18 adolescent parents and 7 field experts from relevant institutions. The interview results show that a majority of the adolescent parents in Jeju are in their 20s and that they hope to receive support for their living expense, childcare expense, housing expense, vocational training expense, personal counseling expense, and leisure expense as well as a change in the social perception of teenage parents. The field experts from relevant institutions said that they would like to discover and manage the cases of adolescent parents in a systematic way and to promote self-sufficiency support for the adolescent parents. Based on this research outcome, a proposal was made to develop a service to support adolescent couples, build the capacity of adolescent parents and their families, discover cases systematically and strengthen the publicity, and to improve the social perception of adolescent parents.
