Research
Through a survey examining Jeju residents' experiences with property inheritance and gifting, awareness of and preferences for inheritance forms, customary practices, disputes related to property inheritance, and awareness of gender-balanced inheritance, this research aims to identify the gender structure of property inheritance and gifting in Jeju and explore future challenges. The implications drawn from the findings suggest a departure from traditional inheritance norms, fostering awareness of equitable and pragmatic inheritance practices, mitigating intergenerational conflicts, shifting property inheritance from obligation to choice, implementing measures to ensure stable old age, and promoting awareness of the risks of family community disintegration due to property inheritance.
