Given the establishment of an independent gender equality policy office in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province in August 2018, the only one of its kind in the country directly under the governor, it is necessary to understand the overall gender equality awareness in the Jeju. This research surveyed two groups: Jeju residents (606 people) and public servants (452 people), focusing on gender role perceptions, gender equality status by area, and gender equality policy demands. The objective is to provide basic data for shaping gender equality policies tailored to the characteristics of the Jeju community. The research proposes 15 policy tasks across five areas: gender equality awareness, creating a work-life balance environment, fostering a safe social environment, enhancing the experience of gender equality policies, and systematizing gender statistics.
