This research explores the challenges faced by unmarried single parents in Jeju, addressing issues such as childbirth and childrearing difficulties, social relationship challenges, employment struggles, and policy experiences. The research used a comprehensive approach, incorporating statistical analyses and policy reviews from Korea, other cities, and Jeju Special-Governing Province. Additionally, in-depth interviews were conducted with 16 single parents and field experts from relevant organizations. The findings of the research led to several measures aim to foster economic, social, and psychological independence among single parents in Jeju. These include emergency care support, specialized child assistance, facilitation of group activities, provision of home-based childbirth coordinators for single parents, emotional and psychological counseling support, enhancement of information transfer functions in community centers, and the establishment of single parent family support centers.
