To propose policy tasks aimed at enhancing the quality of life and alleviating the burden of family caregivers of elderly people with dementia in Jeju, a survey was conducted on 446 primary caregivers who have been providing care for elderly individuals with dementia at home for more than six months. Survey results indicate a need to expand economic support for home-based dementia care, activate information and education initiatives, enhance the function of dementia relief centers, expand facilities and functions related to elderly people with dementia, and improve social awareness of dementia. In response, 15 detailed tasks are proposed in 4 areas including improving the quality of support policies for family caregivers of an elderly individual with dementia, establishing a consumer-centered support delivery system for family caregivers of elderly people with dementia, creating dementia-friendly communities, and enhancing the caregiving capabilities of families providing support to an elderly individual with dementia.
