A Study on the Victims of Domestic Violence in Jejudo

This research surveyed 707 people in Jeju including male and female residents aged 19 or older among the general households of Jeju, in order to identify the current status of domestic violence, their attitude towards gender roles, their perception on the social stereotypes on domestic violence, victimization of date violence/stalking, victimization and response to domestic violence, their awareness on the domestic violence-related institutions and services, and their perception and willingness of support for victims of domestic violence, prevention of recurrence of domestic violence, and for improvement of social perception on the victims. Based on the survey results, this research proposed 12 tasks in four areas such as substantial improvement of the education to prevent domestic violence, stronger support for victims of diverse types of domestic violence, reinforcement of the measures to early intervene in the domestic violence, and establishment of the foundation to respond to infectious disease.
