To develop policy measures for improving the mental health of female caregivers with young children, a fact-finding survey was conducted with 300 women in Jeju who are raising preschool-aged children (under age 7). The survey examined caregiving stress and coping strategies, anxiety, depression, social isolation, awareness and use of mental health services, and policy needs related to mental health support.
Based on the survey findings and expert consultations, 11 policy tasks were proposed across four key areas: (1) expanding mental health services and improving access, (2) reducing caregiving burdens by strengthening public care systems, (3) relieving caregiving stress through greater opportunities for social participation, and (4) increasing mental health awareness and public outreach.
