This study aimed to identify promising future occupations for women in Jeju and propose support measures to prevent them from being marginalized in the job market amid future societal changes and to promote women’s economic participation. To this end, the study analyzed national and Jeju-level employment and vocational training policies, the local employment environment in Jeju, the current status of women’s economic activity, and their preferred occupations.
In addition, a Delphi survey was conducted with 20 experts in new occupations, employment, and vocational training to identify promising occupations for women in Jeju. According to the results, the most promising occupations for women aged 20 to 39 in Jeju were selected as: first, social media specialist; second, digital content planner. For women aged 40 to 59 in Jeju, the most promising occupations were selected as: first, care coordinator; second, dementia care specialist.
As measures to promote these promising occupations for women in Jeju, the study proposed support for instructors and infrastructure for digital vocational training, support for job placement through vocational training programs, and the implementation of pilot projects for promising occupations for women in Jeju.
