Due to childcare policies that mainly focus on wage workers, the high proportion of small-scale self-employed individuals, and a high rate of dual-income households, self-employed parents in Jeju are facing ongoing difficulties in raising their children.

Accordingly, this study analyzes the current status of childcare among self-employed individuals operating businesses with fewer than five employees in Jeju, and proposes policy alternatives to improve childcare conditions for small business owners.
