Amidst the ongoing net outflow of young people from non-metropolitan areas, a phenomenon known as "female exodus" is emerging nationwide, with a more pronounced outflow of young women. This represents a structural problem that impacts regional sustainability and gender equality, and requires analysis to understand the current situation in Jeju. Accordingly, this study comprehensively analyzes the age- and gender-specific characteristics of the Jeju youth (19-39 years old) residential population and population movement, factors influencing youth population movement and ‘population movement expectations,’ utilizing resident registration statistics, domestic population movement statistics, and population and housing census sample data, and suggests policy responses accordingly.
