The status of retirement preparations for middle-aged people in Jeju (ages 50-64) was analyzed by retirement status, age group, housing tenure type, gender, residential area, and pre-retirement (or current) employment status. The analysis suggests policies to support retirement preparation that reflect the individual and household characteristics of vulnerable groups, such as a regional pension system utilizing renewable energy, a system of reduced working hours and promotion of part-time work, a provincial pension for vulnerable groups preparing for retirement, and the establishment of a “Jeju-type single-person household support center (tentative name).”
