Research
In the current policy environment focused on geriatric dementia, support for early-onset dementia is structurally challenging, leaving patients and their families in a persistent blind spot of dementia policy. Therefore, this study comprehensively reviewed relevant laws, systems, and policy trends and conducted a survey of patients with early-onset dementia and their families in the Jeju region. Based on these results, we propose 11 policy tasks in five areas: strengthening early diagnosis and medical-counseling links, expanding customized non-pharmaceutical programs and rehabilitation services, expanding social participation through the establishment of job and employment support systems, strengthening psychosocial support to reduce the burden of family caregiving, and creating dementia-friendly community environments and strengthening institutional foundations.
