Research
This study examines safety conditions and risk factors among women living alone in Jeju, using secondary data from the Social Survey and Korea Housing Survey, as well as a survey of 300 women living alone in Jeju. It also reviews policy initiatives implemented by other local governments to identify areas for improvement.
Key policy recommendations include expanding safety equipment support and introducing greater choice in available items; expanding the network of secure parcel lockers; enhancing the functions and public awareness of the Safe Jeju app; improving women’s safe return routes and CPTED initiatives; strengthening links between welfare and safety services; establishing a collaborative nighttime patrol system; and creating a one-stop application system for related services.
