Using raw data from the 2023 Social Survey conducted in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, this study analyzes key factors affecting life satisfaction and happiness among Jeju residents. The average life satisfaction score was 3.15 out of 5 (3.14 for women, 3.15 for men), slightly above the midpoint. Men reported marginally higher satisfaction than women by 0.01 points. By age group, individuals in their 30s had the highest score (3.26), while those aged 60 and over had the lowest (3.04). Life satisfaction increased with higher household income and education levels.
The average happiness score was 3.12 (3.14 for women, 3.11 for men), again slightly above the midpoint, with women scoring 0.03 points higher than men. Those in their 30s reported the highest happiness (3.31), while the 60+ age group reported the lowest (2.98). As with life satisfaction, happiness levels tended to rise with higher income and educational attainment.
