The current status of the policy to support the independence of child and youth welfare facilities promoted by the 8th elected government of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province was analyzed by dividing it into legal and institutional changes, the government's policy to support the independence of child and youth welfare facilities, and the current status of support for the independence of child and youth welfare facilities in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The analysis results show that the 8th elected government of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province increased the amount of cultural activity expenses to strengthen support for self-reliance of youth preparing for self-reliance in child welfare facilities, and also increased the self-reliance settlement fund to the second highest level in the country. It was also found that the university entrance preparation fund was also the highest among other provinces. In addition, it was found that the establishment of youth independence support centers, support for housing settlement for out-of-home youth implemented by some local governments, and expansion of scholarship support for out-of-school youth contributed to alleviating some of the inequality that had arisen due to the difference in independence support services between the child protection system and the youth protection system in order to support the independence of youth leaving facilities. Based on the research results, policy implications include developing a continuous self-reliance support policy for youth leaving facilities, strengthening employment support policies for youth preparing for self-reliance, increasing awareness of children's rights, and strengthening education for residents.
